Grass Fed Beef Delivers Omega 3 Oil

Why is grass raised beef?

You’ve probably heard that eating beef is linked to heart disease. That may be true but it is not the whole story. The heart disease link is with grain-fed animals – but only grass-fed animals have some great benefits for your health.

First, we must know that the body needs certain nutrients to “take care of business” on a daily basis. Business management includes ensuring proper cell growth, process and performance. One important thing that we must have (the body cannot make) is fatty acids. We need a regular supply of essential Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. The ideal ratio is 2 Omega 3 to one Omega 6. Most people get a ratio between 15:1 and 50:1. That’s where the problem starts and the link to our disease.

What are the benefits of grass-fed beef?

Omega 3’s are found in abundance in seafood and some nuts and seeds like flax and walnuts, as well as grass-fed meat, lamb, bison and wild animals. Omega 3 in meat is much more available to us than omega 3 from plants so meat is our first, and most reliable source. We get a lot of Omega 6 from our foods which is found in abundance in grains and vegetable oils (Olive oil or coconut oil are the best to use.)

Omega 3 is found in the chloroplasts of green leaves and algae. Cows eat Omega 3 in grass and store it in their fat. Cows switch from omega 3 rich grass, and put on omega 6 rich corn, lose the omega 3 fat benefits in their body fat in a short time. The same thing happens in eggs from chickens that don’t have greens in the same way.

Grass-fed meat has 2 to 3 times the amount of Omega 3 than grain-fed animals.

So what happens when we get too much Omega 3? Here are some important changes that happen in our body. Lower blood pressure, less heart beat irregularity and 50% less likely to suffer a heart attack. In addition, you see lower “bad” LDL cholesterol levels. (1)

The brain needs large amounts of omega 3 too, and its intake can lead to mild depression, ADHD (attention deficit disorder) or Alzheimer’s disease. (2)

And we don’t have to stop there. Omega 3’s have been shown to slow cancer growth and prevent cancer from spreading. Like surgery speeds recovery and protects the body from the weight loss that goes with advanced cancer. (3)

Grass-fed meats are low in total fat and calories.

As if all this was not enough. Grass-fed meats can contain 1/3 as much fat as grain-fed meats. That includes elk, wild deer, skinless chicken breast and other lean meats. If you eat the same amount of beef (66 pounds a year) and switch to grass-fed beef, you can save up to 18,000 calories a year. Without any other changes you will lose about six pounds a year.

So, for your health, look into providing grass-fed meat to your family. And, for the record, it’s pretty sweet too.
