Surprising Healing Success Even With Reiki Shortcuts

I received a great request recently from my community and I thought it deserved some information for everyone:

“Does Reiki always need to be done with all manner of hand positions to be effective, or do you just place your hand on another person or animal without a thorough procedure?”

One of my favorite quotes from Hayawo Takata, the Grand Master who brought Reiki from Japan to the West, is “some Reiki is better than Reiki.” I often find myself giving Reiki in unusual places, with limited time or ability to move around or do many positions, so I’ll just have to where I can – like holding a leg in a hospital bed with machines block much access to the body, or even beaming it quickly or stop if the animal is fidgety and moving around.

Takata developed the hand positions I teach, as a guide to the practitioner, to cover the entire body – making sure to address the major organs and chakras or energy centers. Dr. Usui also has many more hand positions from his journal, which is also published in Dr. Mikao Usui’s Original Reiki Handbook: Traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho Treatment Positions and Many Reiki Techniques for Health and Wellness.

The hand positions are not intended to limit Reiki or its use, which by its nature is an infinite cosmic energy, but to guide the practitioner. Conditions create a system in which the whole body is treated, as the underlying level of illness or dysfunction may respond to Reiki used in full treatment better than used randomly or less in the symptomatic area only.

One Hand Reiki in Emergency Rooms

One of my favorite examples of Reiki’s ability to work on deeper healing levels with little more than a single hand application to the thumb or hand is shown in the book Reiki and Medicine. Reiki Master Nancy Eos, MD, is an emergency room physician who often sees miraculous healings happen while a patient is wheeled into the ER and reaches out with one hand to check for a pulse.

“I can’t imagine practicing medicine without Reiki,” Eos said. “With Reiki all I have to do is touch people. Things happen that are not normal. Pain decreases in intensity. Rashes fade. Wheezing gives way to breathing clearly. People get angry and start joking. with me.”

In his book, Reiki and Medicine, he includes descriptions of using Reiki (often one-handed and briefly) to treat trauma, heart attacks, respiratory problems, CPR, child abuse, allergic reactions and emergency room situations. other. I had a similar experience with a very short treatment where I only focused on the man’s ears for under 5 minutes, and his hearing improved greatly.

Richard Keefer writes:

“At the age of 30 I lost all hearing in my left ear and we were fitted with a hearing aid in the right ear. Without a hearing aid I was deaf. During your Reiki demonstration all the background noises in the gym were very loud. and he frowned… I didn’t hear the lady who was looking at us, after she took some steps, I saw that the energy flowing in my body immediately calmed down, and I heard the television from across the room. And I could hear and understand the lady next to us… I got so emotional I cried because I could hear so well!”

Can Reiki Work with No Hands On?

In Reiki Level II, you learn how to send healing at a distance, or in absence, without a physical presence. Through the application of symbols and the recitation of their mantras, you “direct” or direct the energy to a specific person by looking at their form and sending the treatment through your hands as if they were right in front of you. For some people it is a big muscle, yet there is substantial research confirming the effectiveness of remote healing.

In the text, “the science behind remote healing”, it is sure to mention that there is a large study of support for what he terms “unplanned medicine.” Dr. Dossey stated that “some part of our mind or consciousness can escape the constraints of the mind and body and work anywhere, regardless of distance. The medical implications of this are profound.”

Having said this, if possible, I would also encourage a practitioner to continue with two hands and a full body treatment (about an hour) whenever possible! I find that many students in the class tend to be too fast when they start. In a fast-paced society, they think it’s too long to be quiet for more than 15 minutes!

Reiki, Hand Positions and Animals

However, the treatment of animals is slightly different.

I find once they have a chance to try Reiki, they are more guided by the body part they want to treat and will move around and place themselves in my hands as I go. They will also move around the room when they give Reiki however I don’t take that as a sign that they are necessarily finished. I shine the Reiki light on them at some distance and often they will come back close again and move around a bit as the energy is addressing different areas. They are very sensitive to changes, although they often do not fully understand the emotions they feel.

As a general rule, children and small animals tend to need Reiki the most as they seem to change their energy very quickly. My own dog rarely even likes it, because it is always in my treatment room during sessions. That is, until he hurts himself, and then he’ll come right up and put his booboo leg up for some Reiki!

When in doubt, Reiki ON!
