Beanie Baby Trading Cards Are The Lost Collectible From An Age Of Popularity

Beanie Baby Dolls

Beanie Babies began production in 1993 and went into full production in 1994. They didn’t really gain popularity until the second half of 1995. In 1996 “Little Beanies were released with McDonald’s Happy Meals. Everyone has them, especially mom and dad. Their popularity is to be accepted. The point is that even immigrants in the US are being sold Beanie Babies at the swap meet at the beginning of the craze that they are being sold for 10 times what they buy in retail stores.

Beanie Babies from 1996 to 1999 were bought by collectors for restoration and it got to the point where they were not a valuable item to make a good return on the investment in them. On December 31st 1999 Ty had to close down their production due to their consumption on the second hand market. Nobody wants them anymore. At the height of their popularity 10% of eBay sales were, “Beanie Babies”.

January 2nd 2000 Ty started production of Beanie Babies again two days after they stopped production. Some say the restart is due to demand and others say the restart is due to economic strategy by Ty. I can safely say that the second-hand market is flooded with Beanie Babies to the point where they can’t afford them, “not even if you beg someone to take them”. Resumed production Jan.

Beanie Baby Common Cards

* Lesson 1, Issue 1 November 1998

* 1st Edition, Series 2 March 1999

* 2nd Edition, Series 3 July 1999

* Second edition, Issue 4 November 1999

The Baby Beanie cards didn’t appear until November 1998 and were pretty much dead until early 1999 when it was announced that the cards were being retired. After the cards were retired the remaining stock sold out quickly. After the announcement of their retirement which led to rapid sales Ty released series 2 cards in March of 1999.

Beanie Babies Cards edition 1 Series 1 had 504,000 boxes produced in their November launch. They are images layered on images that are old technology. By 1994 the sports card company was producing trading cards that went beyond the simple design that Ty made. My guess is this is why Ty’s trading cards stayed on the shelf until they were definitely retired.

594,000 boxes of the 1st edition 2 series were produced and released in March of 1999 and sold out before they hit retail store shelves. The cards that hit the retailer’s shelves have purchase limits on them and higher prices. The 1st edition of series 1 cards is cheap and has no appeal and you can see in the 1st series 2 cards the poor design quality is preserved due to the popularity of physical dolls.

In July of 1999 the 2nd series 3 cards were released. 751,332 boxes were released. The graphics are updated and more pleasing to the eye. This series of cards is very pleasing to the eye and will probably be a more attractive card to the average collector. If you are looking for quality design 3 cards series 2nd is where you want to be. The backgrounds aren’t very vibrant and the text is a 3D process. Series 1 and 2 were a major disappointment to the design technology produced in sports and comic book cards in the second half of the 1990s.

November of 1999 saw the last release of Beanie Baby trading cards. The 2nd edition series 4 released 620,000 card boxes to the public. These cards continue with the same design quality as the 2nd edition series 3 cards. As mentioned above in December 1999 Ty announced the end of the Beanie Baby dolls and with that also came the end of the cards. Even though Ty made limited quantities of Beanie Babies in January 2000 the cards to date have not returned.

Beanie Baby cards can also be obtained for $1.00 to $5.00 apiece on eBay, Ecrater and other card marketplaces depending on the seller. These cards are not worth much because of the lack of love caused by the production of Beanie Baby dolls. At the time of writing this article going on eBay to find these cards will produce quite a few results for each card you want. You would expect to encounter hundreds upon hundreds of these cards on eBay from many sellers but that is not the case. Maybe people give up on trying to sell the cards they have or don’t have any to sell?

These cards, all series are produced for 1 year only. November 1998 though November 1999 is for all Beanie Babies past and present. Sports cards, comic book cards can have an individual player or character produced each year for many years. Not that way for Beanie Babies. These cards are only one year production of the very popular Ty product. There are many small business card sets on the second hand market that were produced at one time and due to lack of popularity they are not profitable.

Will these Beanie Baby cards reach the popularity of the dolls that make the cards possible? If I had to speculate on this I would say that these cards will one day be close to the popularity that dolls have. Will it happen in my lifetime? As for anything loaded this question can not be answered. Popularity is something that is caused by the opinion of an individual that increases with the majority. The only real idea that can be formed is based on the past collection of items that are popular today and that one day in the future these business cards will be recognized as the image of a famous item. past which will bring value to the cards during them. is known.
