If Dogs Are Man’s Best Friend, Then Cats Are This Woman’s Best Teacher
It was only seven years ago, I would have told you that I wasn’t really a cat person. It’s not because I don’t like cats. They are one of the best creations of God. When I was growing up, our family had a purr ball named Muffy, a Persian. He was an octogenarian, lived to the ripe old age of 18. But he was kinda aloof, and like many of his feline counterparts, mostly slept and washed, allowing us a few minutes a day to beat his luscious fur. I know you think of yourself as a princess and grace our lives with your majestic presence. I learned about the birds and the bees from Muffy. We all watched the wonders of kitten birth, as Muffy produced many cute little heirs to her throne.
Then my previous thoughts about cats all changed.
It was all Julie’s fault. Julie has always loved animals. I swear the first word out of your mouth was horse. As he grows up, he doesn’t play with dolls, but any kind of animal, stuffed, plastic or real. Even critters, I would not get within a 10 foot pole of that. He also likes real snakes, lizards, rats, everything except any spider. So one bright and glorious day, Julie called me. “Auntie Cathie, will you take me down to the animal shelter, I want to volunteer to be a cat companion and I’m too young and I need a chaperon.” Well, I’m single to my brothers and so this became a Wednesday afternoon tradition for us. At first I mostly watched and interacted with your cats and admired their beauty from afar. Then it happened. I saw “THE CAT” I later named Slate. And then my life changed in so many ways that I now think of as magical. Since then, I’ve also adopted a small kitten that I call Pate and of course, the absolute love of my life, Slate.
My cats have made me a better person and they have not taught me valuable life lessons by telling me off or criticizing me. The cats that matter to me taught me the most by example and a cat admiral game plan. It is very difficult for me to explain how even my thoughts, philosophy of life and of course attitudes and actions have changed by observing these divine, ethereal beings who have blessed my life just by living with me
I have learned to become a humble, kind person, loving without any expectations. Because then my sweet children will jump into my lap and show me all the wonderful love. Just show a little anger, loud noise or neglect, cats run away and will not do you any favors with their great presence.
I have had to learn to accept my tough cats for all their uniqueness and individuality. There is no way of changing the different nature of any cat. And who would want to make them into a one size fits all type of cat? I get such a kick out of watching them portray their character with such abandon. “To thine own self be true” is exactly the whole cat’s phrase.
I’ve grown to appreciate how cats don’t pull any punches about their true feelings on any subject that concerns them. It is constantly learning and writing on all the little glands themselves. Tails, ears, hisses, and hisses show all forms of disappisation. There is no doubt in your mind, that you cross some cat boundary that is completely unacceptable to them. But if you are lucky enough to get a stage full of Slate and you hit it with love, it will reward you with the sweetest cat eyes and purrs of endless appreciation.
Cats are always curious about their entire environment. It always seems to me that they experience everything new, as if for the first time. Their fearless exploration and thirst for knowledge is paramount to them as they smell, bat, fly and play with everything they can get their hands on.
Trust is earned with cats. They are naturally cautious when anything or anyone is introduced into their home. They recognize any other creature or person with their cat’s guard. They just need some time and space until they realize that they will be treated with courtesy and respect.
We can all learn a lot from our grumpy little friends. So, in honor of the cats that have been separated and separated, I propose a guardian’s loyalty certificate.
“With my beloved cats, I promise to always be naturally curious, but be careful, when you meet others, carefully treat them with respect for the important contribution they make to my life by accepting their individuality their uniqueness, while expressing and highlighting them all. my true feelings, so that our true trust and affection may grow into appreciation and mutual respect over time.”
Now that would be a purr-fect, little bit of cat heaven on earth!
And all this I learned only through the full attention of my cat, which for cats is second nature. How did cats get so developed? It seems that God can give each of us a little more food. Well, I guess He did, He gave us cats, with their precious, lovable, and different little souls. I thank God, Julie and my two sweet cats. I wouldn’t have wanted to learn life’s priceless lessons any other way, than with Slate or Pate purring on my always grateful story. Cat life lessons are the best experience, so I invite you to join the community of cat lovers and get your very own cat teacher. It will give you a new perspective on life, one that you cannot learn through school or books, dogs or other people.
My loving cats have trained and coached me on my bumpy road to becoming a “cat worthy” person. Cats are truly this woman’s best life teacher. And there’s no perfect use around that.
