Ideal Food Pyramid

I would like you to join me in challenging the belief that it is not true that I am as sure as I am that all grown up hearing is true. The information featured in the traditional USDA food pyramid – the model that was popularized a few decades ago – is misleading and silly. Anchored by carbohydrates (with a recommendation of 6-11 meals), the pyramid also recommends two to three meals of meat and dairy – essentially, it is a diagram on how to stick to your plan. Even the latest revised version, which features several improvements, fails to address the fallacies of animal-based food.

The best food pyramid I would like to present emphasizes a plant-based diet, especially water-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables. These clean foods should make up the majority of your diet. This is what a good food pyramid should look like:

70% Live Foods – A combination of 80% vegetables (asparagus, broccoli, carrots, peas, green peppers, celery, cucumber, lettuce, sprouts, wheatgrass, & fresh herbs) and 20% fruit (normally non-acid producing low-sugar fruits such as avocados, lemons, limes, tomatoes, and grapes). Vegetables are a great source of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants, and fiber. If the body is balanced, fruit is a great live food – in moderation it should only be eaten on an empty stomach.

10% Vegetable and Fish Proteins – A combination of nuts, seeds, and legumes (almonds, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, lentils, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, & sunflower seeds) and deep-sea fish like salmon, tuna, halibut , shark, swordfish, & snapper. Proteins support muscle building.

10% Complex Carbohydrates – Make a collection of suitable non-preserved grains such as basmati and jasmine rice, buckwheat, quinoa, millet, spelt, kamut, non-yeast breads & needles. Grains provide fiber, which reduces obesity.

10% oil – Olive, flax seed, Omega 3 & 6, Udo oil, avocado (don’t drink cold pressed oils). Good fats remove acids that damage cell membranes, break down saturated fats in the blood. Proteins support muscle building.

The ideal food pyramid is a tool to help create a foundation for a healthy lifestyle, however, if you are looking to lose weight in both a quick turnaround and a long-term sustainable lifestyle diet then please visit Strip That Fat.
