Medication For Yeast Infection Treatment
Nystatin is an antibiotic, commonly given to treat yeast and yeast infections. It is a safe drug that is related in the treatment of oral or gastrointestinal problems related to candida species.
Nystatin has been a proven cure for skin, vaginal, mucousal and esophageal candidiasis. It is also authorized in the treatment of mouth ulcers in newborns over one month of age. However, for small children, miconazole is another appropriate drug.
So, how does Nystatin cure your candida infection?
Nystatin binds to ergosterol, which is the main component of the cell membrane of the fungus, Candida albicans or any fungus for that matter. When, Nystatin is present in adequate amount in the cell membrane of the fungus, it can form pores in the cell membrane which causes potassium ions to leave the cell thus leading to the death of the fungus.
How does the drug affect people?
The reason is that, ergosterol is quite unique to yeast cells. Therefore, it does not have any harmful effect on animals or humans. Furthermore, since Nystatin is not absorbed in the stomach, it is safe to take orally and does not have problems with drug interactions even if you are taking other drugs.
However, Nystatin causes some side effects but not every person is susceptible to this. Some of the side effects are fatigue, irritation and burning in the vagina when used to treat this part of the body. For tablets and liquid Nystatin, these are the common side effects: diarrhea, upset stomach, stomach pain and skin rash. If you believe that the side effect is too much to bear, consult a doctor better.

So place half a dose of water on each side of the mouth and rinse and swish for a minute and swallow. After that, do not drink water immediately. Wait at least five minutes before doing so. For stomach infections, take the medicine three times a day and just swallow it straight without gargling or swishing.
Surgical tablets and creams: Nystatin tablets and creams are usually used once or twice a day on the surgical area. Tablets are almost always used for a period of two weeks for women who are not pregnant. While pregnant women are still able to use Nystatin for three to six weeks before giving birth.

Do not douche unless prescribed by the doctor and continue to use Nystatin even if you have your period in the middle of the treatment.
